CMM was presented with the “Contribution to Economic Development – Large Corporation in Abitibi-Témiscamingue” Award at the 2016 Concours Extra competition held by the Rouyn-Noranda Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 19, 2016. This award recognizes our contribution to employment, purchases, the awarding of contracts, sponsorships and community initiatives across the region. It also demonstrates that it’s possible to work together to ensure responsible development and operation.
The Québec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA) presented CMM with the Excellence in Sustainable Development Award in recognition of its innovative Good Neighbour Guide. The award was presented during the QMEA’s Xplor Congress, an annual recognition gala, held on October 5, 2016.
The Québec Mining Association’s Health and Safety Symposium, held on September 19, 2016, recognized the efforts of 18 CMM supervisors and those of their teams to achieve between 50,000 and 350,000 consecutive hours without a lost-time accident.
Nine CMM employees received certificates in recognition of their innovative workplace safety and prevention ideas at the 28th annual Abitibi-Témiscamingue occupational health and safety symposium held by the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (Labour standards, equity, health and safety commission – CNESST) and the Integrated health and social services centre of Abitibi-Témiscamingue on October 25 and 26, 2016.
