2020 – OUR SOUND MONITORING PROGRAM WINNING THE GRANDS PRIX DU GÉNIE-CONSEIL QUÉBÉCOIS

On October 13, 2020, our partner Soft dB won the Grands Prix du génie-conseil Québécois in the “Environment” category for their sound monitoring project at the Canadian Malartic Mine. Working for more than 8 years with this company now, our collaboration has led to the development of several innovative methods and instruments that allow us to comply, day after day, with the applicable noise limits under current standards.

 

2020 – 19 CMM SUPERVISORS RECEIVE HEALTH AND SAFETY RECOGNITION AWARD FROM THE QMA

Although the Québec Mining Association (QMA) did not hold its 2020 Health and Safety Symposium due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it highlighted the efforts of the industry workers in OHS. At CMM, nineteen of our supervisors were rewarded for having achieved, with their teams, between 50,000 and 450,000 consecutive hours without a loss of time accident. These distinctions aptly sum up the importance of applying our three operating steps which structure the daily work of all workers on the mine site.  

 

2020 – CMM WINS A “FILON” AT THE GALA DE L’ENTREPRISE!

The 40th edition of the Gala de l'Entreprise of the Chambre de commerce de Val-d'Or was held on September 19. Canadian Malartic Mine has been awarded the "Sustainable Development and Environment" Filon. This distinction is the result of the committed work of all MCM employees and those of our contractors.

 

2020 – CMM RECEIVES F.J. O’CONNELL TROPHY

As part of the Québec Mining Association's (QMA) annual general meeting held on September 18, 2020, CMM was awarded the prestigious F.J. O'Connell Trophy in the Surface, transportation and primary metal processing operations category for 2019. The criteria for the award of the trophy consider improvements in a company’s safety record, its record compared to the industry average, and its combined accident frequency rate based on specified target values.
